I’ve just finished a week at Maison et Object, but still enjoying Paris… thought I’d update you guys with what colours were happening at the show!
This year it was a riot of colour…. Bright, bold and more often than not: clashing! Tangerine, turquoise, green, orange and pink, combinations of navy and terracotta, magenta and yellow, turquoise and orange.
Tribal influences were on display in many forms of ethnic prints on both fabric and wall paper. Kelim rugs and electric coloured vintage patchwork over-dyes.
I loved the prominent vintage trait in the form of trunks, jewelry, rugs and furniture shapes with contrasting brightly coloured tiled top tables which put a fresh edge on the designs. Many of these retro pieces were upholstered in these tribal designs with striking textured fabrics so as to mix the provenance which gave many of these pieces a serious visual impact.
