My design inspiration is my 10 year old niece Jasmyn. She has never been afraid of strong colours or clashing patterns and is always a breathe of fresh air in the room. Her life and outfit is always an adventure and the most mundane of lifes choirs are new and exciting. She helps me to not take things to seriously, to follow my heart and take risks. And if it doesnt quite work, the second time is as fun a game as the first time.

How amazing! I have wanted to do this course forever. I am a design enthusiast – my decoration inspiration comes from reading endless magazines and many beautiful interiors blogs, from both Australia and abroad. More recently the world of social media has opened the door to a treasure trove of ideas and inspiration. Hours on pinterest, tumblr and even facebook can give an insight into the latest trends in décor and architecture from across the globe. Who would have thought inspiration for a ‘touch and feel’ subject matter would come from my computer?

my decoration inspiration comes from the ability to make a blank canvas show an individuals personality, style and what they love most, to be able to give any room life, a new soul and character.

My decoration inspiration is definately nature inspired!!
Ever since I was a young girl I would sit on my brick fence and look down my very long driveway (I lived on 15 acres at the time) I used to enjoy drawing trees, the sky and the natural surroundings. I loved picking branches, leaves, and stones and turn them into many many objects and art.
Now as an adult I bring many natural elements into the home and along with earthy paint pallettes I try to transform the outside in….
SO names like Oyster, Mushroom are not only food types to me they are…YES Colours!!!

Images, words, music, places, people, art, colours, clothes, antique finds, materials, fabric, spaces… design inspiration can come in all shapes and sizes.
Sometimes it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when it’s going to hit, but when it does you just cant get something out of your head, you cant stop thinking how you are going to make it, or make it happen.
Design for me is constantly evolving, changing into something new, or something better till you get it just right.
Inspiration is out there, go hunt it down that is what I say, Be inspired.

I would love to be in the running to win a place in the renowned Interior Decoration Essentials 101 Course.
My decoration inspiration comes from the beauty in everything around me. Noticing the textures, colour and patterns in every day life. I am always keeping up to date with trends and styles via magazines, internet design sites, well known designers and all my favourite interior stores like Coco Republic. Nature is also always an inspiration because there is so many elements in nature that we can use for decoration.
Thank you.

Decoration Inspiration for me comes from houses showing personality from their owners interests- where by just looking at the rooms, you can imagine who lives there. Also I am fascinated by the various materials used in homes around the world, reflecting the resources available to their makers… In Bali you will see thatched Alang-alang roofs and in Morocco, there are magically decorated clay bricks!

I live in Tassie so I’m surrounded by decorating inspiration! I only have to look out the window and see the gorgeous Autumn colours right now that are so rich and vibrant. We are lucky enough to have 4 very distinct seasons which I find wonderful as I can update and decorate according to the season. I’ve pulled out my gorgeous warm throws and cushions to welcome in winter – rich reds and greys.
Colour and design really ignites my spirit but unfortunately Tassie doesn’t offer a lot of opportunity for further study in this area. If I’m fortunate enough to win this course I’d hopefully be able to do the accelerated course given my geographical location!
Thanks for the opportunity – I love what you do!

The real inspiration for me comes from within. It’s a feeling – a moment when you know that something is just right. It comes from our senses, not so much our head where we seem to make so many decisions. It’s in a scent, a touch, a second glance because you know you’ve seen something fabulous. It’s all of these external factors that evoke in us a sense of style – our own style.
That is what gives me my inspiration and motivation!

What a great competition to be part of! So exciting!
My main inspiration comes from my grandma – ‘an elegant lady with wisdom (like old Shanghai lady poster). I’m aiming for a modern, relaxed vibe by incorporating Asian/Oriental elements with simple black & white, wooden/natural finishes. I want to achieve some level of complexity through tablescape with the remaining decoration simple to the minimal. My recent trip back to Shanghai further enlightened me to mix the new with the old. I imagine a space filled with connections back to the 1930’s Shanghai Bund.

Decoration Inspiration.
It changes every day – every moment of every day. It changes with the people I speak to, my frame of mind, new products seen online or in person. It is, for me inspired by the very people I am giving interior advice to – who are they, what do they like, how far are they willing to go, and what can be used to shape a space to completely fit its function.
Inspiration comes from living in the moment, and in the essence of experience.
It comes from living with open eyes.

My decoration inspiration stems from me….. my childhood, my culture, my family my life, my experiences, my travels, my memories, my tragedies, my triumphs…. I believe that when you decorate you tell a story, it has to have meaning…it has to have soul…. Being Euroasian the term FUSION is intrinsic in my being…. I have lived a life of two differing cultures…I have always tried to fuse the two together with the mantra of trying to take the best from both cultures. Winning this design course will mean that after all these years of living someone else’s dream I can finally….pursue MY dream….

My decoration inspiration comes purely from falling in love with an item, and ‘making it work’ no matter what. From vintage to contemporary, art deco to retro, I find inspiration in all of these; certain elements used to create stunning, warm, friendly and functional spaces with an inviting atmosphere.

Decorating inspiration can come from anywhere, my favourite places are the unexpected; vintage posters, movies, ballet concerts, wallpapers, or my kids drawings.
Amazing prize guys, thanks. xx

Decoration inspiration is everywhere. Magazines, tv, movies, photographs, art, fashion and books provide excellent visual inspiration with internal/ emotional inspiration coming from moods, weather, music and the people around you. Travel and exploration (locally, nationally or internationally) provides new surroundings, new visual stimulus, new emotions and a renewed lease on design and decoration ideas.
Being inspired by colours, textiles, styles and trends is exhilarating and in design and decoration I have found my passion. The renowned Interior Decoration Essentials 101 course would be a part of this continuing journey and provide an excellent opportunity to be inspired further by the team at Coco Republic.

Creativity is my inspiration and making things with my hands. The texture and print of a fabric that you convert into a cushion that becomes the focal point of a room. I’m very much a visual person and my eyes drink in images from everywhere – the street, magazines both online and in print, blogs/ pinterest. The world is at our fingertips these days and it’s how we interpret these and make it relevant for ourselves and our homes and the way in which we use a space. This is an awesome opportunity and I would feel so grateful to attend your course. Xx

Decorating inspiration comes from anywhere, my favourite sources are the unexpected places ….. vintage posters, my kids drawings, wallpaper, country drives, musicals.

My inspiration for design can not be limited to a few objects as I believe design is exciting and unique when it responds to the change occurring around us. The term ‘inspiration’ in my work not only encompasses what I see visually, but also responds to feelings, noises, textures, and the nature of change that occurs daily. It is a compilation of everyday experiences that allow for a unique design each time. I always enjoy sketching my design ideas and inspiration before turning to technology to ensure a sense of rigidness, authenticity and a reflection of me as an aspiring designer.

My decoration inspiration comes from my home. It is a beautiful place which I created and month by month it changes with my mood. My home is like a woman, with beautiful curves and bold features. Dressing it up is always fun.
My home is a place of tranquility, a place where I love to wake up each morning and imagine. A place that all I want to do is decorate, my place, the place that I call home.
Renee
My design inspiration comes from my mother & my grandmother, my grandmother was an interior designer & she taught us to have an eye for beautiful things. She would redecorate our bedrooms for our birthday presents & it’s still to this day one of the best birthday presents I’ve ever received. My mother taught me how to make a room look good on any budget, you just need to be creative rather than splash cash!

My design inspiration comes from the my clients day to day living. It inspires me to create an environment which not only functions with their daily lives but also something which puts a smile on their face every time they walk through the front door. Creating a place to unwind, a place to share with family and friends, a place you can call your own and reflects you!
Carly
I feel decoration inspiration, like design, comes from an experience – of place, time, of an object. I don’t believe recreating an image deduces good design, because it offers no thought process, no generation of ideas, therefore no theory to support production. Decoration inspiration can come from anywhere when you immerse yourself in experience.
Deb Michell-Smith
My decoration inspiration comes from the textures and colours of vintage furniture and homes.
Anything with character – splashes of colour showing through under old paint, flaws in old walls and brickwork, patterns in wallpapers, fabrics and artwork. The comfort of small rooms, lamps and log fires, the natural light in large windows and relaxed seating where kids and adults can make themselves at home.
I love reading magazines and design books for inspiration.
I love exploring home-wares stores looking at furniture and soft furnishings, I love when I see a fabulously styled window that inspires an idea, I love when I see someone dressed in gorgeous vintage style.
I constantly find ideas to inspire my decorating…
Erin
I am a real estate photographer and see many different houses every week. From a small apartment, to a family home, to an extravagant mansion each have their own unique decorating style and personality. From these homes I can source ideas for my own decorating inspiration! Whether it is a print hanging on the wall, an interesting colour scheme or a fantastic piece of furniture it can inspire me in my decorating! I find it so interesting to see how each person has a distinctive decorating personality and how they choose to decorate their home. I am so excited about this opportunity and would love to do the Interior Decoration Essentials 101 course and learn from the best! Thank you!!

It took me a little while to learn that my true decoration inspiration comes from within. When I focus on what I absolutely ‘love’ it all comes together. So easily we get confused and thrown by trends and styles but if I focus onelements I love and integrate it with pieces that are in fashion, it will always work together – because love is timeless.
Ellena
My growing interest in and inspiration for decoration and design is fuelled from having worked in the property / construction industry for the past 14 years. I have had the great opportunity to work with many decorators on various sized projects and for an array of Clients, and have always wondered what it would be like to be the “creator” of the decorated space – not just the one to build / deliver the envelope.
The ability to create a tasteful space / environment that satisfies the requirements of the end user would be a highly rewarding career! I don’t think that this can be said for very many occupations.
Past experiences including travel have given me so much inspiration to work with in the future – it’s all about getting that next opportunty to make it happen. This would be a fantastic avenue to help turn that dream into a reality.

“You’ve got to know the rules to break them. That’s what I’m here for, to demolish the rules but to keep the tradition.” -Alexander McQueen
My inspiration begins by looking at the core structure of an interior, enhancing the heritage and adding my own sense of elegance.
My influences come from the Art Deco eclectic architecture of William Van Alen, the ultra cool New York styling of Kelly Wearstler and the polished Parisian couture of Yves Saint Laurent. I’m drawn to their tactile textures, vast arrangements of patterns and their aesthetic use of metallic and colour infused with shape and form.
Like us, every interior has it’s own personality and history. They are, what YOU make of them!
Sharon Hairman
My decoration inspiration comes from the word “decorate” – which comes from the French word “to beautify”.
My passion with design is to create luxurious and beautiful spaces. GLAMOUR is my motto with opulent comfort!
On another note, knowledge is power, so I would love to win this course!
Emma
My decoration inspiration comes from many hours spent at my corporate job, in my pokey cubicle with my pet plant, Esme. Assuring my boss I’m making headway with data entry, while spending time trolling through my favourite local blogs such as Interiors Addict, Field Notes, Once.Daily.Chic; and sites from abroad like The Decorista, Design Sponge and the completely addictive Pinterest. These sites fuel my imagination and I often find myself spending hours on end saving images, collating image libraries and writing on my blog about my amazing finds. Oh yeah, and I do some “work” in between :)
Mel
Congratulations Sally!!
Well said, and so true. x
