Straw Hat’s Off

Being married to a Swede I have a bias towards anything Swedish, some would call me a Swedofile – do they exist?. They seem to just do things right. Certainly my wife is always right…

However, the real proof is in this recently converted straw hat factory in Stockholm – Stråhattfabriken.

The conversion is by renowned developer Oscar Properties and is their best work yet in my opinion.

The building was a straw hat factory in the 1800′s and the styling of straw hat’s throughout the apartments is fun, anchoring the design with a playful theme.

In true Swedish fashion the rooms are simple and the layout comfortable. The joinery is equally as simple and useable allowing the beautiful historical elements to have a voice, whilst allowing the furniture selection to hint at easy, elegant living.

My family’s dream is to have a place in Stockholm one day, so when I win the lottery next year, I’ll be ensuring I check out if any of these places are on the market.
