New York Gift Fair 2012 – The Latest Trends

The New Gift Fair brings together the best in decorative accessories and furnishings from around the world, but the highlights would definitely have to be from the local markets including Jonathan Adler, Oly San Francisco and many other smaller vendors.

The overriding trends for 2012 at the fair fell into the following categories;

Matte Pastels – This is less of a colour trend and more of a textural trend, as pastels have been used for the past few seasons. People are now going for less pop colour and moving towards subdued applications.

Bronze Metals – Once again, not a new trend this year but still an overriding theme in the market, metallic bronze has had a strong resurgence over the past 3 years. Bronze is a great finish to add into a natural / organic interior to give it a playful sophistication and add depth as seen here.

 Jewel Tones – Where pastels rule one half the colour spectrum, jewel tones rules the rest. The fashion world has definitely led this trend and now it’s seamlessly transferred into the interior world.
